Robert Spalding: American Companies not Benefiting from Globalization when China Is a Part of It

As the U.S. and China negotiated over the last two years, at times it seemed a trade deal was imminent. But then China would back off at the last minute, raising doubt as to whether China really wanted a deal. We interviewed General Robert Spalding, a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute. He served as senior director for strategy to the president in 2017. He was the chief architect of the framework for national competition in the Trump administration’s National Security Strategy (NSS).
